Day 26 – It was almost the end

This day started off well, but ended in a rough patch.

We made reservations at one of our favorite places for brunch; Folktale Winery. We joined this wine club when they were just a few weeks old and it has since turned into the most popular winery in the area. And, they continue to win awards for being one of the most fun wineries to visit.

The food and service was amazing, as always. They do such a great job catering to kids and dogs.

From there, the day went south very quickly. Apparently, Olivia has confused 8 with 18 and she decided that nobody gets to tell her what to do anymore. So, we had to shut this party down rather quickly…. after some rather unkind words. She also lost her electronics privileges for the next few weeks.

I also had a big meeting with school where we decided it was time to open a medical school in Turks and Caicos along with a few other nursing programs. We will primarily be focusing on students coming from Africa, but will be open to all with an American-based accreditation. It is very exciting.

To finish off the night, John drove into Monterey to pick us up our favorite dish, Puttanesca. Again. We had to have it one more time. He also needed some time away to sit by the ocean and enjoy some peace. He took the brunt of the eight-year-old’s fury while I was in my meeting.

The food was just as delicious eating it on a hotel bed and watching Golden Girls, as eating it in the Wharf.

By the end of the night. Olivia had a change of heart and decided that we will all play on the same team again. She is still grounded, but we ended on a positive note.
