Yesterday was Olivia’s birthday and we did it her way; swim and play, then swim and play again.

We drove to the Napa area to meet her adopted grandparents Karen and Jeff. Then, after a brief lunch at the beautiful Korbel Delicatessen, we were off to the hotel and to swim (of course).

But first, presents! She got everything she wanted and more. She is not a big fan of toys. Instead, she loves creating stuff and boy did she rake it in. She got a sewing machine and all the associated materials from Grandma and Grandpa. And, she got a pottery wheel from dads.

After swimming, she took a break for ice cream. No cake this year, she just wanted ice cream.

After that, she went home with grandma and grandpa and . . .swam again.

She finished the day by seeing her friend Phil. He is a country music singer/writer who retired to the Napa area. He teachers her musical instruments and sings her songs. Tonight, he topped off her birthday with a lemon meringue pie.

It was just the type of birthday she loves.
