Day 12 – Washington

This is a day late, yes, but we were already up so late last night I couldn’t bring myself to write a post too.

We woke up to sunshine yesterday! After loading up the car, we immediately started on our journey to the Seattle area.

The drive was interesting. Such diverse landscapes. I enjoyed the flat/farming parts because they tell you what they are farming by hanging signs on the fences. It was fun to guess what everything was and see if we could get it right by the time we got to the sign.

We stopped along the beautiful Columbia river for a nice little walk. It was very reminiscent of Arizona, which surprised me. Beautiful!

We also saw this gem of public art on the mountain. This was not my pic (mine did not turn out so well, this is from the “Grandfather Cuts Loose the Ponies” Wikipedia page)

Olivia and Toby have their travel game down. They hop in the car and Toby gets on his bed, often turning away from everyone so he can sleep. Olivia pulls a blanket over her head and will often nap for three to four hours. Her busy little body often just shuts down if you can force it to sit still for a few minutes.

We are trying to avoid cities so we drove to the outskirts of Seattle to the beautiful town of Woodinville. Our hotel, The Willows Lodge, has been amazing. Right in the heart of wine country, with big rooms that are left vacant for 72 hours between each guest in order to properly sanitize. We were grateful we didn’t have to do as deep of a clean as we usually do. They left all kinds of presents for Toby, including a welcome card with his name on it. We didn’t even get that.

Olivia took all kinds of silly photos around the hotel

We spent the night relaxing and lounging at the hotel. The best part? Our dear friend Molly Young came to visit and hang out with us. She brought her man friend who was equally great. Olivia was obsessed with doing Molly’s hair, but only had empty plastic from the silverware to tie it with.

We stayed up late and then Olivia went home with Molly to spend the night. We are looking forward to another great day with them today!

Let’s Check-In With Everyone.

  • Daddy Brock check-in:
    • Rose: Molly. And, cherries. So many cherries.
    • Thorn: Waiting 50 min at the food truck for my breakfast burrito (for dinner)
  • Daddy John check-in
    • Rose: Sipping some good vino on the patio with a Molly
    • Thorn: Long drive (although pretty)
  • Olivia check-in
    • Rose: Going to Molly’s
    • Thorn: Dads took away all electronics for a day (they say I’m not paying enough attention to the magic around me).
  • Toby Check-in
    • Rose: I went poop! After like three days.
    • Thorn: Once I broke the seal I couldn’t stop. I have pooped like five time in the past 24 hours.
